It is sunny hear today on the farm, it is due to be in the 70’s. what a wonderful day to get some stuff done in the gardens and such. Soap is made and now I will need to make the bags for it, m work never ends. I have glass to get done tomorrow and still have tests to take and such, I hope I get it all done.
We thought, or hoped Moo was ready to calf, but I guess not yet. I have explained to the kids what to look for and what to do if things go wrong. When a calf is born normally the you will see the head, tounge and two little feet pointed down, anything other than this may requir pulling the calf, which is a task in and off it’s self. I had to explain that if the calf was pulled you have to pull down and out, not just out, other wise you will hurt the moma and most likely kill the baby.
Had a new baby sheep…she is lovley, wish this place would let me post photos….
Oh ebay, you do care…woke up to bad feed back…ewwww and I tried so hard to make him happy, I refunded him from eggs that were not going to be laid because of the earth quake, even offerd to set up a private auction and such…EBay took off a bad feedback from my account, it is a miracle...I won, yes, streamers, balloons, fan air, ticker tape parade...confetti…we shall mark this day upon the calendar…and we shall speak of it round our fires…lol
I bought yet one more ancient kitchen aid mixer, this one had a grinder for meat…I was and am so happy. I paid 45 and it should last for a while before I have to replace the bushings, maybe even a year if I treat it kindly. So now I the food slicer, and the meat grinder, always are looking for parts for.
Life is just clipping along…Took my math test, blew it with a 70 something now, I am so distraught. I guess I have to retake it…we will see.
News from the Doghouse and the Never Ending never-ending.....
It's been a few days since I posted, cause been busy and ect.....Try to focus on the subject in chronological order but doubt that will happen, probably more of a rambling style with interludes of "oh, yeah, just remembered"....8-P
Well, I don't know where to begin....have done a bunch of horses the last few days, 4 over at Brockwell and a couple on the state line....the state line ones were a donkey and a miniature who has some really bad hoof problems, but he is a sweetie and a fairly nice little hoss. Saturday we had to work at the Brockwell, and did 4 there, out in the boonies....after that we started into town to garage sale/sail and got called back to the hocienda to take care of a plethura of roosters being delivered, then we went back to Salem and hit the grocery store and the resale mall. We picked up some treasures and some really nice books, kitchen accessories, and other quasi valuable things 8-P
Been doing good on the eggs, collected the usual smattering plus things like some eggies from the peacocks, more turkey eggs, unusual colored arrangement duck eggs, ect....
We have/had a forest fire going on east of us, and it even made the Weather Channel...oh boy, were famous 8-P We have had plenty of other things going on, just its late and I am tired and can tell it all another day 8-P
Hope you like this link:

Well, from the now extinguished fire, because of the heavy cold rain, we had flocks of our free rangers come home for hand outs i.e. food 8-P Have not seen some in awhile and a few others I am not sure that they are even ours, BUT, if they expect free food...so do I heh-heh-heh <-- evil laugh 8-P Had some foraging ducks "return" as well, several of the spotted ones, especially the one that looks like a fire house dalamation, I would remember. Had one little birdie that I did not remember, but I recognized her partner a very spectacular turken, who als is a little squirt as well...they are both the size of the Malaysian sereums.
Got so much to say....dumped trash solo again today cause it was wet and cold...the Bears are playing Wii sports at the time of typing this, and I got Elijah mad at me because I was rooting for the guest contestant he was boxing with heh-heh-heh, that will teach him for tickling my feet with his icy cold hands 1st thing in the morning 8-P Went out to see about working on the goose coop project at @ 2:30 and there were 5 deer in the yard down by the pear tree, I could have easily blasted several of them, and as I stood there very still watching them, more were jumping the fence across the road, down by the mail boxes and joining them....
Also forgot to mention about the lamb born yesterday to Lightning our dark 4 horn ewe...the baby lamb was born on a nice sunny day and time, only noticed because I have been watching Moo and thought she had her calf, but she just had upturned some hay, then I noticed the sheep as I was going in the house, trying to get things done before we went to Mammoth Spring to work on a donkey and a minature horse....
Was going to take it a bit easy today, because of the weather and being overly tired again from everything, was only going to roll a couple of bales of hay today, but the horses demolished the last of theirs, when I thought they had plenty....the goats and Wiggle the mini cow needed it as planned, was going to do it Sunday, but ran out of time and exhausted....and really needed to roll one to the sheep, then Moo needed one as well, partly because she got some help from the sheep and a few goats...oy 8-P So Dahveed and I rolled 4 bales, we had one already in place though from the last time we rolled them.
Everything else seems to be going ok...collected several more than usual eggs, from geese and ducks to the chickens and quail....the peacocks are due this evening as well...and Curly the Eldest his harem gave us one today as well....
Got a nice fire going, had one last night and it must have got a bit toasty cause the Boss had the fan on 8-P it was like 78F when I got up in zombie mode in the middle of the night but it was still wakey wakey time for the night owls 8-P |

News From The Doghouse and another cold rain soaked day....
Woke up this morning in a birdhouse with all the finches and parakeets singing, and Elijah's big stinky feet on me, leg laying on me....he crawled in some time last night, bad dream or something, he never said...oh well, he still loves me and at 5 years old, I am still security, makes me feel warm and wanted/needed 8-P
Got outside to unload the grain bags from the van, as it was raining heavy off and on yesterday late afternoon early evening, sometimes lightning that lit up the entire sky for a second or two. Did not feel like I accomplished much, but rest and take it easy. Watched educational programming with the Bears, then watched an old movie while they played and fought lol
Interesting turn of events on Babylon 5....more popcorn please 8-P
Got to get outside and do the chores, ugh! its sloppy out there :-{~]=l
Got to the chores in the very cold wind and temps, did laundry as well. Filled the water bowls for the incubator 1st, then the water troughs for the cow, then goats, then horses, then sheep...while waiting for the trough to fill I do other things like getting laundry started and bagged the trash, switch out bags, just go back for moving the water hose to each tank....do-do-doooooo
Got the woodburner cleaned and going with a nice fire, as it is going to be around freezing tonight. Seen deer trespassing out on the southeast pasture, the wind was blowing from the west, the deer were munching on trees that started to bud, so I put the fruit trees up for the night, seen at least 5 and more kept coming out of the thicket and there were some down by the pond, so I don't know how many were around. Heard a turkey clucking one time when I was heading to the basement to chuck some wood into the woodburner.
Collected 2 turkey eggs from the barn and another muscovy duck egg...4 silkies and a guinea egg as well, couple of blackstar eggies and only 1 americana...so not too shabby a haul today. Wanted to do some work on things outside, but canned by the wind chill and inclement weather, better luck next time....really need to cut some extra firewood as well, but everything is damp from being so wet from the rain :-(
